OPEN CALLS FOR THEATRE ARTISTS and FILMMAKERS: SUMMER 2020

FIlmmakers

Rorschach will employ five filmmakers to work on Klecksography 2020 from July 31 through August 9, 2020. Klecksography is a week long project during which we create, stage and perform six new short plays and 5 short films.

One of the goals of this project is to connect actors, directors, filmmakers & playwrights with artists and producers they may not yet know and there will be opportunities to be seen and network with other theatre companies besides Rorschach Theatre. Participating companies include Round House Theatre, Theater J, Mosaic Theater, Arena Stage, Imagination Stage, Longacre Lea, We Happy Few, Pointless Theatre, Spooky Action Theatre, BBP Productions, Graphic Audio, TBD Immersive, 4615 Theatre, The Welders, Rep Stage, 1st Stage, and Adventure Theatre.

All filmmakers in Klecksography will be compensated with a $100 honorarium. Filmmakers will cast, script, and direct their own projects. Rorschach can recommend collaborating artists by request.

Actors

This year Rorschach Theatre’s open call auditions for DC-Area actors will be by video submission only. Submissions are due by Monday, June 29 @ 11:59pm.

By clicking on the link above you can share your resume/headshot as well as a link to your video. Actors should prepare a 60 second contemporary monologue + a brief (30 second) answer to a question asked in the form.

All actors who audition will be considered for Rorschach’s 2020-21 season as well as Klecksography 2020. These auditions will be shared with other theatre companies, including Theater J, Mosaic Theater, Arena Stage, Imagination Stage, Longacre Lea, We Happy Few, Pointless Theatre, Spooky Action Theatre, BBP Productions, Graphic Audio, TBD Immersive, 4615 Theatre, The Welders, Rep Stage, 1st Stage, and Adventure Theatre.

Directors

Rorschach will employ six local (DC-area) directors to work on Klecksography 2020 from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 9. Klecksography is a week long project during which we create, stage and perform six new short plays. This year’s performances will be digital. One of the goals of this project is to connect actors, directors & playwrights with artists and producers they may not yet know and there will be opportunities to be seen and network with other theatre companies in addition to Rorschach Theatre.

Playwrights

Rorschach will commission six local (DC-area) playwrights to write for Klecksography 2020 from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 9. Klecksography is a week long project during which we create, stage and perform six new short plays. This year’s performances will be digital. One of the goals of this project is to connect actors, directors & playwrights with artists and producers they may not yet know and there will be opportunities to be seen and network with other theatre companies in addition to Rorschach Theatre.

Compensation: all positions are paid a small stipend.
